For some months since we started building the app, we only have a U.S LLC. That was the structure we already had when the work started, and it was enough to get moving. Today, we are happy to announce that HighlandsPH is now part of Kanshiro Technologies OPC. It is 100% Filipino-owned and operated.
Why is this change important?
The U.S LLC itself will have different SaaS businesses and applications. The legal structure is different, and there are other founding Engineers and investors in the future for that entity.
Why is this happening? The global projects are much larger, require more funding and can really change how people work. Next to a portfolio like that, a listings platform for Northern Luzon is a rounding error. If this tiny project remains to be a part of the global company, we will have less control over what will happen.
Investor pressure is what pushes marketplaces to loosen verification and count spam as growth, and we already said in What is the HighlandsPH App? that we do not allow that here. My decision as a founder to keep everything relevant and useful for this platform moving forward is to keep the Philippine projects fully owned by the Philippine entity which currently has no investors, and likely will never need investors due to the nature of the business. Under Republic Act No. 11232, an OPC has a single stockholder, so outside equity would mean converting the company into a different corporate form.
What's going to happen in the next few days
- We are making the web app more stable, secure and safe to use by the public including our partner companies and agents who are using the site currently for presentations to clients.
- We are on the phase of finishing the mobile applications that have security and performance as a high priority over many features.
- The national level application will launch before the year ends.
With these notes, if you interested to join now and understand how this platform works, feel free to sign up. We will definitely send you a few updates over the coming weeks, but only really important ones.
